Venezuelan government claims that Pedro Cabrera Torres, a Cuban national who was captured in a landing made May 8 by Venezuelan guerrillas, hanged himself in his cell while awaiting trial. His body was found by a guard June 2 and the news was released the same day. The circumstances recall the death of Fabricio Ojeda a year ago June 21. He, too, according to the Venezuelan government "hanged himself" in his cell shortly after being captured. In Mexico, where there is no death penalty, prisoners are shot "while fleeing." In Venezuela, it seems, they don't even flee. They just conveniently strangle themselves.
